How to look after your FLIT-16 battery

ABOUT THE BATTERY

Battery capacity is measured in Watt-Hours.

The FLIT-16 comes with a 230 Wh battery that should have a suitable capacity to last for 20 – 30 miles for most riders on most journeys.

The battery can be locked in the bike by fixing the seat post in place using the lock on the seat post quick release.

The battery can be charged when it is inside the bike via the charging port, or outside the bike by removing it.

Modern lithium-ion batteries last over 500 discharge cycles before the capacity starts to decrease.

CHARGING

If the FLIT-16 is being stored outside, it is best to take the battery out of the bike and charge it inside, in a warm, dry place.

Do not charge the battery outside of the range of 0 °C ~ 45 °C. If the e-bike has been used in cold weather, leave the battery inside for at least an hour so that it can reach room temperature before charging.

During charging, the charger will show a red light. When the battery is fully charged, the charger will show a green light.

In order to get the maximum battery lifetime, charge and store the battery correctly.

When the battery is fully discharged, recharge as soon as possible.

We recommend you charge the battery at least once a month, or at the absolute minimum at least every 3 months, to keep it in good working order.

STORAGE

It's best to store your battery indoors, in a cool, dry place.

Batteries don't like temperatures below freezing, so it's best not to leave them in a garage or shed.
Avoid storing in extreme heat too, for example in a conservatory, or anywhere with a heat source nearby (e.g. a radiator).

Storage for longer periods

If you're planning to store your battery for a long period of time, it's best to store it between 30-60% charged.

Hibernation mode

When storing for long periods, place your battery in hibernation mode to slow the rate of discharge.
To do this, press and hold the power button on the battery itself until the lights go out.

If you have any questions about battery health, get in touch.
